Harry Wale, 18, volunteers twice a week at a charity called The Brick in Wigan supporting people who are homeless, in poverty or facing debt. As its name suggests, it provides a safe, solid building block for people in crisis to begin to construct a new life and become valuable members of society.
Not only has Harry given up his free time to assist people at The Brick but he also walked from Leigh to Wigan last year to help raise money for them. His teacher said, “This is a young man that through his own actions promotes the plight of people less fortunate. Harry has a social conscience that drives him to help those that are not always in a position to help themselves. When told he had been nominated, Harry said, 'Just being able to help someone in need is reward enough for me'.”
