At Million Minutes we know that young people are amazing and they deserve to be celebrated, not just once a year but all-year round. We want to help sustain ‘Young Leaders in life’ and ‘Young Leaders in CST’. To do this we are supporting our young leader Alumni network anyone who is aged 11 to 25 and who is involved in our work is automatically invited into this network. It could be that you were nominated for one of our local or national awards, you spoke up for us or you are a beacon parish/community. This page gives you an insight into the network and the different ways you can become involved.
Online formation sessions - In April 2020 we launched our young adult conversations - 13 nominees from the previous three years of the awards met weekly to join in and grow together in community with one another, hearing from specialists in the field, sharing their faith and learning more about our global world.
The sessions covered the following topics and issues:
Food Poverty in the context of Covid-19 - In conversation with Matthew Van Duyvenbode from the Trussell Trust
Exploring the life and times of Dorothy Day
Young people say, "What can one person do? What is the sense of our small effort?" They cannot see that we can only lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time; we can be responsible only for the one action of the present moment. But we can beg for an increase of love in our hearts that will vitalize and transform these actions, and know that God will take them and multiply them, as Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes.
We are all called to be saints, St. Paul says, and we might as well get over our bourgeois fear of the name. We might also get used to recognizing the fact that there is some of the saint in all of us.
Spirituality and well-being - In conversation with Sahaya Selvam, sdb (Priest from Nairobi)
Laudato Si - Celebrating and discussing the Pope’s encyclical 5 years on.
The Climate Coalition and the importance of Diversity and taking action– In conversation with Leila Bousbaa
Black lives matter, BAME communities, gender equality, the return to local, our sense of place…- Input from Dan Hale (Purpose) and Daisy Srblin (Christian Aid).
Faith, vocation, prayer and protest - In conversation with Sr Katrina Alton CSJP
Carousel of activities - Looking ahead
