Take time to celebrate your young people: At Million Minutes we believe young people are amazing and they deserve to be celebrated, not just once a year but all-year round. We are committed to creating and sustaining Young Leaders in life and Young Leaders in CST. In every school, parish and local community young people (aged 11 to 25) are committing themselves to social action day in and day out, often doing the most extraordinary things. We believe there are many ways you can celebrate your young people. Explore our ideas page below and get involved!

Other ways you can celebrate your young people

It`s time to celebrate young people.

  1. Have a young person of the month in the Parish/school/community. Invite nominations from across the community.

  2. Set up a collection box twice a year in the school/parish/community to support a young person’s social action project

  3. Get your community to recognise and celebrate a young person they see doing well - compliments are free, spread them whenever you can! You could publicise these celebrations by spreading the word in your parish bulletin or after the homily, let others hear about the good work they are doing.

  4. Invite all your young people to pizzas or cakes after Mass, get the parish priest to join in on the celebration. Make the after Mass celebration all about the young that gather.

  5. Let a young person takeover your parish or school newsletter for the week, let them edit it and get creative. Support them and give encouragement when needed.

  6. Take a group on an experience (e.g. a meal out, go bowling, visit the seaside etc).

  7. Invite the young people to compose a blessing for use by the parish community. Print the blessings in your parish bulletin as a way for the young people to thank the community for its support and presence, and to wish continued fruitful work.

  8. Nominate your young person for a local or national award. Explore how here.

“Young friends, don’t wait until tomorrow to contribute your energy, your audacity and your creativity to changing our world. Your youth is not an “in-between time”. You are the now of God, and he wants you to bear fruit.” (Pope Francis, Christus Vivit, 178).
