Hannah and Zoe have shown huge zeal, promoting peace and solidarity amongst young people in Newcastle for over 5 years. Each week they meet with a group of around 30 students - from different religions and backgrounds - to think about how to promote peace and solidarity. The organised a recent conference on welcoming refugees.

The organised a recent conference on welcoming refugees. They both love working with the group because it brings the school community together with such a positive message.

Ella Holliday

Ella is currently the youngest member of the 'Young Peace Journalists'. Ella chose the refugee crisis as her focus and built her own links with various agencies to make contact with refugees. Ella has a natural presence of a peacemaker, she is confident yet full of humility, a young lady mature beyond her years.

Within that work and her work as a Anti-Bullying Respect Ambassador she witnesses to and communicates the gospel message. “Ella is an inspiration, she lives out the Gospel values each day; her presence and maturity of faith in action is beyond her years,” says her teacher.

Anna is a Peer Mentor for year 7 students with behaviour issues and secondary school transitions. She supports the younger students who have anger problems or just need someone to listen. 

Anna is a Peer Mentor for year 7 students with behaviour issues and secondary school transitions. She supports the younger students who have anger problems or just need someone to listen. She gives them strategies so when at home, or out, they can control their anger. She hates any violence or bullying. “Anna likes to support people who may have issues or problems. She is a great listener and very conscientious she hates any violence anger or just bad behaviour.” Chaplain
