YourSpace Project supports parishes and communities in creating welcoming environments where young people feel valued, heard, and safe. It helps local groups listen to the real needs of young people in their area and collaboration with them to respond with compassion and creativity. By developing inclusive safe spaces, the project aims to strengthen community connections, nurture wellbeing, and empower young people to take an active role in shaping the life of their parish and local community.

Many young people do not experience parish life as a place where they fully belong. Not because communities do not care. But often because parish structures were never intentionally designed with young peoples lived experience at the centre. So YourSpace asks a simple but important question: What would happen if we intentionally created parish spaces shaped with young people rather than simply for them?

What is YourSpace?

YourSpace project has grown directly out of listening to young people.

Listening to what helps them feel safe.

Listening to what helps them feel welcome.

Listening to what helps them feel heard, valued and appreciated.

What YourSpace project includes:

Five in-person accompaniment visits to your parish across the year, from a team who will walk alongside you rather than arrive with ready-made answers. Alongside the visits, there'll be ongoing conversations as you work out together what a welcoming space could look like for your community.

Safeguarding goes beyond DBS checks and risk assessments, it's about what it actually takes to create an environment where young people and adults feel genuinely safe together.

Training built into the visits themselves, covering a vision for youth ministry, accompaniment training, youth work skills, engagement, and safeguarding.

Opportunities to meet regionally with other pilot parishes in your diocese, sharing good practice, encouraging one another, and staying connected as you each find your own way through the pilot.
