Pope John Paul II said, “Solidarity is a firm and persevering determination to commit oneself to the common good” (The social concern of the Church, 38). Peace flows from this. We are called to live honestly with one another, working together in love for the good of all. This is what will lead to true peace. Peace is much more than the absence of war; it is the fullness of life for all.

IDEA: Start a peace garden
Research what material you might need, see how your local community could help you. Is there space in your existing garden or local allotment? Pick out the types of flowers/tree you want to plant, buy the products you need, and get your hands dirty. The space could be used for times of meditation and prayer.
IDEA: Organise a self defence workshop
Worried about your safety, and the safety of others? Research and call up local organisations and see if they can provide practical tips or demonstrations to help you feel safer.
IDEA: Could your Parish create a safe space for young people to come together?
Million Minutes runs Courtyard - explore the project here.
Or consider starting a youth club. Go round and talk to your local community, where is there a need? Use our social action plan to break your idea(s) down. Our social action plan can be found at the back of our Million Minutes of Change pack. Download here.
