Dorothy Day Award Recipient for fostering community and participation
Harriet’s youth worker explains “I have chosen to nominate Harriet, because it is only by accident I ever found out the other works she is doing in the community.” Harriet never takes centre stage but works quietly behind the scenes drawing other young people into the youth groups and into Church activities. Harriet helps run youth retreats out of Salisbury and has gained enough confidence to run her own retreat days for younger children in the parish. She draws in other young people to help lead it. It has been a huge success with more wanting to attend and even more wanting to help.
Harriet way always a faithful member of the Youth SVP group, and now offers to help at the Trussel Trust food bank. She has been instrumental in fundraising for many, many charities, for example providing play parties for children with serious disabilities.
