In early 2017, Tommie-Lee, Jayley and Josh from a council estate in Weston-Super-Mare decided to raise money to go to Paris. They raised over £3,000 by by car booting, starting small businesses, presenting to local funding groups, and winning the vote in Waitrose!
Back home the boys enjoyed telling people about their trip and the work they did to fundraise. The group said, “We’re now planning to start a little pop-up restaurant to raise money for a bigger trip. Lots of our mates gave up. We started with ten people, but only three of us were committed. We want to show people what you can do if you really work hard. We’re getting more people involved now."
The group’s youth worker said, “The boys are shifting culture and raising aspirations across their community and amongst their peers by doing what seemed impossible.”
