DEADLINE: Sunday 29th November 2020

Million Minutes is a small charity that has a significant impact in the Catholic community and beyond, achieved with the help of a committed board of trustees. As a charity, we exist to work with the Catholic Church to ‘place all young people at the heart of the Church’, in the words of Pope Francis. This means working via parishes and local Catholic communities, advocating within the internal structures of the Church, and building up a new generation of young leaders inspired by the gifts of Catholic Social Teaching.

You will be joining an active and dynamic group, which has a passion for improving the lives of young people and a commitment to enabling young people to be a means of transformation in the world.

In 2021, Million Minutes will celebrate its tenth year. With our first full-time Director recently in post, a young staff team, and our founding trustees stepping off the board, this is an exciting time for Million Minutes, as we seek to put our strategy into practice, and transform the Church’s engagement with young people.

In the next 2-3 years, Million Minutes has the following strategic aims:

  • Local Catholic Communities have a renewed vision of their mission to reach out and support all young people;

  • Inspired by Catholic Social Teaching, young people are supported and recognised for taking social action which transforms society;

  • Million Minutes is recognised as a credible dynamic organisation to support youth social justice

To achieve this we will:

  • Advocate for the vision for young people in the Church, captured in the papal encyclical, Christus Vivit. This will include working with the Church to ensure it values, supports and accompanies all young people, including young women, LGBTQ+ young adults, young people from diaspora and BAME groups, and all those sometimes seen as ‘outsiders’ in the Church;

  • Accompany and resource parishes and communities to develop their plans for youth work and youth ministry;

  • Support the formation of a new cohort of young people as emerging leaders (in the Church and the world) and resource young people for social action by:

    - Inspiring hundreds of young people and adults to support our flagship fundraising campaign, SiLent, which supports the grant-making arm of our work;

- Building on our Celebrating Young People Awards as the authoritative moment of celebration and recognition for youth social action in the Catholic community;

  • Collaborate with partners to strengthen the social justice youth network

Diversity in all its forms is extremely important to us at Million Minutes. We strongly encourage applications from under-represented groups, including women of colour.
