OUR OFFER TO YOU
The Church is called to accompany young people and to journey with them in the decisions they take: within their lives, their engagement with the world and their growth in relationship with God and others. We cannot dodge this call. It’s a call to accompany each and every young person – all are in the heart of God, and all are in the heart of the Church (Christus Vivit #235). That means most especially the poor, the vulnerable, the broken, the outcasts of society. We must be with them, simply accompanying them and support them to discern what God is inviting of them.
ACCOMPANIMENT -OUR OFFER TO PARISHES.
Dedicate a million minutes to your young people.
Pope Francis challenges us to go beyond the usual Church youth ministry, to reach out to the young people beyond the parish walls. He asks us to find the local young leaders, and to enable them to lead others to be the means of change in their world. Pope Francis calls us to accompany them, offering them the gift of our time – our very selves – and the rich treasures of our local Catholic communities. We must:
reach out, accompany and help real discernment
offer real availability and real time
be in proximity with them, being non-judgmental and truly ready to include young people in the heart of our communities with no pre-conceived agendas
Million Minutes will, in our own small way, support dioceses, parishes and local communities to do this. We offer the following:
1) Diocesan and large scale workshops: Sharing our vision, learning and engagement methodology to large gatherings in bite-size workshops
2) Local Community (parish) Vision and Engagement Workshops. These will help communities to embody this vision for young people (Day workshops with take-away resources)
3) ‘Discerning your youth work’ planning day: Local community pastoral planning workshop, followed by on-going support to create and implement a meaningful youth plan. Our support will include email/phone, regular updates and networking with others. We will also offer our other core activities to engage young people in CST and social action.
4) Bespoke support to Beacon Parishes: Where we meet local communities who ‘get the vision’ and are prepared to commit a million minutes to their young people we will offer bespoke training and support. This will include intense networking, mentoring and support our high quality resources (Courtyard)
5) Young Leaders. We will also continue to build our young leaders’ network – based on our 1000+ young people who have been celebrated through our awards – to develop young leaders formed in CST for the world and the Church. We will build a network of accompaniers and a suite of resources to help young people discern their mission in life alongside our other core activities. Your young people can be part of this.
